Now that its getting warmer,I would like to take my better half riding, but she is terrified says the Sporster is to small. If anyone has pictures of them riding wives or girlfriends please submit.maybe this will help convince her.I know if she gets on once she will be hooked
It's alot of fun to ride two-up, just make sure to reasure her you'll take it easy.
Has she ridden on a bike before? Have you ridden two up before?
If you don't have one, I'd suggest getting one of the removeable sissy bars, it will give her a great deal more confidence/safety and comfort when riding. My wife has ridden with me when I have it on and off, but she is much happier when it is on. And so am I since she feels she can sit farther back I have more room and less presure on my back.
Here is a pic of me and my wife on the sporty, I hope it helps.
I posted this pic a while back for a similar request - so some of my recent bike mods aren't evident...
I'm 5'7" and about 155 lbs, my girlfriend is 5'7" and about 145 lbs.
By FAR, the best thing for 2-up was a new seat (LOVE my Sundowner) and a sissybar/backrest.
We go riding together almost every weekend, often 200+ miles (and I ride 3-4 times a week).
A Sporty definitely gets it done...
My wife loves to ride with on my sporty. I weigh 250 and she weighs 150. Set the shocks up a couple notches and go for it. I have a low sissy bar with backrest for comfort and and a one up luggage platform.
me and the lady friend go all the time, but to make her real comfortable i got her the high detach(even though it never comes off) sissy bar and got her some 4 inch long iso oegs for her feet. now she loves it

I would like to give you a definitive answer but, you left out critical information, like how big is the wife.
Back when we had a 93 sporty 1200, My wife and I used to ride all over the place two-up, never had any trouble.
Definitely go with a sissy-bar/backrest though, it makes your passenger a lot more comfortable, and less paranoid. My wife is a very experienced passenger and rider in her own right. But even now, she was NOT happy riding on the back of my new Springer until I got a backrest for it. She says it just makes her paranoid.
'course when she bitched, I told her to ride her own damn bike (an '06 Sporty 883).
