I have the same stains. I have ridden the hell out of it in the few months I have had it, but I keep it wiped down and clean. The paint quality on the Nightster is terrible...worst I have seen on any bike and a big dissapointment. The engine won't come clean for the life of me. And now I have the clear coat coming off my tank...really dissapointing. Harley is telling me that it is likely going to be wear and tear on the tank and not warranted. How the bottom of the tank ghets alot of wear beats me. I really thought a Harley would last more than 2700 miles before I started seeing problems like this lol.
I still wouldnt trade it for the world...it just is what it is. I am going to try some of the suggestion here though...glad this was posted.
+ 1 on the staining complaint. What's worse is at the 1K service the tech put the wrong gasket on the inspection plate and oil seeped and giving me a nice stain. Shoulda had them paint it, but didn't know the stain would be with me for ever.
i think the stains you guy are getting are from the anodizing that is on the lil #5 plate and the 1200 plate on the air cleaner cover hmm lets think about it they are black and are where the stains are idk if my bike has any stains i gave up on
Harley-Davidsons quality its ****
Has anyone tried the can of silver bead blast touch of paint from the harley dealership. I used some recently to do some touch up and I cant get the paint to cure. I spray a coat and let it dry. Then I go to ride it a couple days later and the paint softens up as soon as the heads get hot. whats the deal?
S100 WILL STAIN any painted surfaces. You have to follow the instructions precisely! NEVER use S100 on hot or warm surfaces. Rinse, rinse and re-rinse. S100 make good products but they only work when you follow the instructions.
