I don't know the answer, but I have to say that I don't understand how people like those - my feet don't fit them and they seem extremely counter-intuitive. I do have to ask though - your SN, you a maryland alum?

I want it mostly for racing. The combination of the forwards and pull of my bike makes it a little difficult to shift. Yes, I am a MD alum-sometimes it's fun and sometimes it's just painful.
when i first rented a deluxe back in 06, i had only ridden my sportster and the little bike that they had at the msf course. I hated that heel shifter and wanted to remove it from the bike cause i thought it was gonna get in my way and trip me up.
2 years later i rented another deluxe in daytona for bike week. I told the rental guy how stupid i thought those heel shifters were, and if I were to ever buy this bike, it would be the first thing removed. He laughed and said, try it before you blast it like that. Well, i did, and I fell in love with it. not sure exactly why, but i did.
now i have a deluxe and I probably use the heel shifter more than the toe shifter now. It's fun i guess.
For 2 reasons!
Most ppl junked them because they never tried long enough, it takes time to adjust.
Ppl with big feet can't use heel shifter.
I am totally in love, can't live without one.
