After you torque them and ride your scoot, let it cool down and re-torque the bolts. It helps to not forget that step, ask me how I know.

Yes, 5/16-24 is correct. I had said earlier that I thought they were 5/16-32, which was incorrect. Sorry if I further added to the confusion. I'll just go away now...

Just to clairify for you guys, for 5/16" bolts, std. (SAE) thread is 18 tpi, fine thread is 24 tpi.

Good idea about the star washers...Never thought the the heat would break the Loctite down...Know what I'll be doing the next time I have my pipes off...
