Default Grips ?

Soon I'll replacing the stock bars with ones from a 1200L. I've ridden a similar XL50 with them and really like the comfort. While I'm at it, I thought I'd ask you guys your opinions on grips. I'm a relatively new rider, but my wrists get a little numb with my current setup, (bone stock). I've seen a lot of the nostalgia grips on Nightsters and they feel pretty good. Should there be a certain brand / set I should consider?

Thanks, as always,

fF

If your wrists are numb, it probably isn't the grips. My guess is it is the bars. Your wrists should not be at an angle when riding. There should be a straight line from your elbo to your nuckles. You may need to change your riding style, rotate your levers, or change/rotate your bars.

+1 on adjusting the bars first. You may not even need new bars, simply adjust them until your wrists are straight.

Regarding handgrips, I like the Kurykan ISO-grips. They have a fair amount of weight to them and very good vibration dampening. Also, they're longer and larger in diameter than the puny ones HD gave you. I like to put some extra weights in the end of them to further dampen vibration.

I went with the bars from the low and its alot better for me. Take a trip to a dealer with the grips out on display, and see what feels right.

Try the Dyna Low bars - they are similar to the 1200/883L bars but the ends are turned outwards more which keeps your wrists straighter.

+1 Went with these bars and a set of Willie G. grips one size up and it was like riding a different bike.
