Well I can understand what you are saying. BUT I have to say that I love the sideshots in black. Now what about taking off the heat shields and wrapping the pipes underneath? and preserving the heat shields for later use? If you do take some pics so we can see what it looks like.

I think the wrap looks pretty silly on anything but a full custom or ratbike myself.
But that's just my opinon.

I am no mechanical expert by any means - can you please explain what you mean by your comment about the wrap playing hell on the motor? Yikes- I have seen a lot of wrap jobs on the pipes (and even read a "how-to" in this month's Hot Bike) and had not heard anything about impact on the engine- I actually thought it might ever-so-slightly increase power? Please let me know more details so I can research- thank you.

While still not sure about the wrap on Side Shots (do you have a pic or link to one??) I think wrapped pipes on blacked/matted out, chopped up Nightsters look awesome. I think that is the idea, to make them rat bikes, or at least "rat bike-ish".

They change the temp of the exhaust is coming out of the motor, causing it to run differently.
On some motors, that would not be a good thing.
Wrapping the pipes has been done in racing for years

Precisely. Changes the exhaust temps and can affect scavenging depending on how you wrap them. If you don't get an even wrap on both pipes, you'll have one cylinder burning differently than the other, which can effect performance and longevity.

It's a great thing if you do it the right way. If you just toss it on there and expect it to keep your legs cool, you're not thinking about it hard enough.
