Default Pulls to the left

Hey Guys. I have a beautiful 96 Sporty S - recently bought - but I notice that, when I'm riding down a straight and give it some throttle to get that grin on my face the front end feels like it wants to pull slightly to the left. Otherwise, it's an awesome ride. Is this a normal thing on Sporty's?

OMG, you've found the dreaded left trouser pull generally associated with hauling the mail and shifting while going ever faster. This phenomenon generally happens to those riders with that big smile on their face.

Mine does this very thing on roads with a crown.

Yeah, front wheels always like to go uphill for some reason.

Rear wheel could be out of alignment a bit, might be worth checking.

Interesting that you should mention this. When I fist bought my sportster I thought it pulled a little. Don't remember which way it could have been up hill. That was about 6 months ago. The other day I was riding and I remember thinking to my self that it didn't pull any more. I just chalked it up to getting used to the sportster and how I sit on it. Just go ride the thing and enjoy it. I'll bet in a couple of weeks you won't even notice it.

Check the rear wheel alignment. Your scoot should not pull to either side.

If the rear wheel is dog tracking it should cause a rear push and not a pull in the front. The rear wheel when off left will cause the rear of the bike to want to push right while the bars remain perfectly straight in the front and the opposite would hold true if the rear wheel were dog tracking right. Another issue that comes to mind is rear tire wear, which would or should be obviously weird over a number of miles with a dog tracking condition.

I just bought a used 08 nightster and I'm experiencing the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
