I've spotted two really nice looking 883 Sportsters at the local HD dealer here in Nashville. I'm torn. Both are 06's and both are screaming eagle setups.
Bike 1 is a 883 Custom with V&H Long shots with 423 miles. Price is 6295
Bike 2 is an 883 Low with V&H Long Shots with 9638 miles. Has wheel upgrade. Price is 5795
How many miles to the tank does the 3.3 peanut tank get? What about the customs tank?
Which would really be the better deal?
Well out of the two, I think the XL883C is the better deal. But, I would spend the extra buck and get the new Iron if it was me, but it may not be your look. good luck!
or....
you could buy my wife's '06 XL1200C that has a 4.5 gal tank, screaming eagle pipes and a quick-disconnect windshield, among other goodies...for $7800. Oh, and it has 850 miles.

At 22 years old i wish the insurance company wouldnt rape me. I have no tickets or accidents *knock on wood* but progressive still wants more than i'm willing to hurl out.
Thanks for the input guys.
I dont plan on taking 'really long trips' on it but would still like to go awhile before i need gas.
The custom just screams duh in that department.
On my 06 883L (3.3 gallon tank) I generally have to switch to reserve around 115 - 120 miles. Once you switch to reserve you can comfortably go 20 miles. But I ALWAYS start lookin for fuel once I hit the reserve.
btw, which Nashville dealer? I might have a connection to help ya with the price.
Honestly...after that first 130 miles on either bike, you'll be ready for a quick break anyway. So either bike will do fine. If you're not too tall, then the L is about 1" lower for you. But otherwise, I'd get the custom just for the bigger tank and it should come with forward controls already as well. I have the Low myself and the tank size hasn't been an issue yet. I'm ready for a break around every 100 miles on either of my bikes.
