2006 xl883l

Hello im new to the forum and wanted to say hi! Also, I would like to ask a question just to see if anyone had any ideas. I have a 2006 XL883L and am looking to add some highway pegs but, it looks like the only way to add highway pegs is to use a engine guard and attach pegs to it. I dont have forward controls because I drive a lot in town and would rather not have them. It would be nice to have pegs when I do go on long hauls. No you don't need crash bars to mount highway pegs.
