So a few of you have been following my exploits into getting an Iron. Well last Saturday I purchased a Silver Iron from the showroom floor. I chose silver mainly because at work on Friday every bike I saw was black and I want to stand out a little more than the average duck.
So I leave the dealer, Boston Harley in Everett great experience, and proceeded to the MSF basic rider class. My cousin picked the bike up and brought it to my house while I was in class til 1930. After getting home from class I decided to try out my new found skills and ride around the block. Well that block must have been big because I didnt return home until almost 10PM! I have never ridden a bike before saturday in class! Sunday morning I am feeling frisky and ride the bike to class and home. I passed with a 3 point deduction for not stopping within the range for my speed on the emergency stop, back brakes on the nighthawk were not good at all. The Iron has just under 300 miles now and has replaced my jetta as the way I get around. I am 6ft 240lbs and find it comfortable so far. It could use a softer suspension but other than that I am in love with riding and the bike.
Here are pics that I have so far.

That's a GIGANTIC Sportster if you're 6'0 / 240#! Oh, and get some decent riding boots. Those sneakers will not last long dragging the road after stops (if they ever get to touch the pavement). And maybe some pull-back risers so you can reach the bars.
Seriously though, congrats on your first bike! I still have to schedule my own MSF, but I'm getting quite addicted already from riding around town and to the beach. Hate the freeways, though.
Damn that thing is saweeeeeetttt!!! Now, yank those reflectors, and since you a big azz dood, get some heavy duty progressives on the back in all black and your ride will improve 10 fold. Peace!!
