full face
When you are young you think you are invincable and going to live forever at least I did. You kind of know in the back of your mind that you will kick down the road some time but it seems just too far away. Over the course of your life you lose some friends, parents and it hits you in the face with reality.
As you get older it becomes less important to prove things to others, you just want to take care of your family, which means taking care of your self too.
Tomorrow is promised to no one.

Very Well Said,Thank You and I'am looking at a FF helmet, ride with half helmet now
I don't mean to single you out, but this post makes a point that is important to consider. And it goes to the basis for the initial question about FF helmet use. It has been my experience, and observations, during the past 40 years of riding.
There are many more reasons, possibilities of incidents that put the protection offered by a helmet to the test, to need the protection offered by a helmet when riding locally. That is when traffic around you is, generally speaking, moving at different speeds and in different directions. On longer trips some people feel that since a higher speed is involved that a helmet is more important.
If a rider cracks his/her head on the ground at 60 mph it can have bad results. But similar results can occur if an unprotected head/face hits the ground at 25 mph.

Your are totally correct and I have the same thoughts when I have occasionally ridden w/o my FF. Your head can hit the pavement just as hard 50 yards from the house as 50 miles. When I have done it it is in neighborhood, residential type roads, areas w/o traffic, not local roads with stores, gas stations, people pulling in and out of parking lots in a hurry. Even then I know I'm still rolling the dice somewhat, just picking my spots.
Here in Ohio it seems like easily 8/10 Harley riders wear no helmet, I personally don't. I used to preach wearing a helmet but I feel more alive without it and I doubt a helmet will stop the good Lord form taking me when it's my time to go. I don't believe in chance. I prefer FF helmets over half or 3/4 though to stay on topic. lol
I use to ride a crotch rocket and couldn't give up wearing a full face helmet. I also still wear at least a mesh jacket with armor if not full leather. I also think this has to do with the strict rules the military puts on its members that ride (even though I think I would wear either way).
no need to spend a ton. check out motorcycle superstore. my ol just scored an icon fullface for 100 bux. its usually $300.
dont opt for a budget full-face. they suck. i have a scorpion exo and like it. its vented like crazy.
these new ff helmets slice the wind like butter. easy to run hard all day with one of these. beats the crap out of a 3/4 or dot half.
get a dark visor and pedestrians have to guess what you look like. bonus.
