If you do change your pipes and get a lot popping, then you will at a minimum need to get the HD download. It's about 150.00. It's your bike, but why cheap out now???
you will not get "alot" of popping. it will only pop on decel. and not bad, actually sounds good. the real problem is that it can blue your chrome pipes, but if they have chrome heat shields then that is not a problem.
With all due respect, I disagree. Popping can and does occur not only on deceleration, but also when releasing the throttle when upshifting in the higher rpm's. Popping is not good, as it is an indication of a lean condition that makes the engine run hot and will shorten the engine life. The bikes already come with a lean condition from the factory due to epa guidelines. The blueing that occurs on pipes are a direct result of the lean condition. Also, it can cause blueing on the heat shields as well. Popping can be avoided by proper tuning.
If you're like me, dont have loads of cash, and just want the bike to not sound like a honda, yes you can just do pipes. The remap is a need with the a/c. My guess is, like me, you'll eventually want to complete the stage 1, but in the mean time you can nail step one with pipes and get your bike sounding like a harley.
