Default Bar-end Mirror hack

I purchased some bar-end mirrors from eBay and when they came, the bits that go into the handlebars were poorly made and didn't work. They wouldn't expand enough inside the bar the create a secure hold.

My hack was to buy new grips (which I was going to do anyway) with end caps that come off. See photo 1.

Remove the left grip's end cap and insert a bolt through the mirror bracket and into the grip. Use a washer/nut inside the grip to tighten the mirror bracket securely to the grip. Then, just clamp the mirror to the bracket as it was intended. So far it's been very tight.

Hopefully the photos will make my poor directions easier to understand:

I bought those same eBay bar end mirrors for my wife's Buell. I had to get the expanding part expanded just enough to tap them into the bars. Then I held the "ring" with a pair of rubber jawed channel locks while I tightened them the rest of the way...then, installed the mirror assembly itself. I thought they were cheaply designed at first, and maybe they are, but she's racked up a few hundred miles this year so far and they've held tight no prob. She seems to like them much better than the stock mirrors.

Those grips are the HD diamond black grips. Part number 56405-08.

Is there a particular search name to find that type of mirror?

A lot of the bar end mirrors are for metric bikes which usually have 7/8 inch bars instead of 1 inch. I installed a pair for a guy about 6 months ago and had to make a spacer to get it to tighten up. I didn't like them one bit. I'll bet they fell off by now.
