Default Mounting an Engine Guard

I bought an engine guard for my 883L and figured I'd install it myself. First problem was I didn't have any torx bits. So off to Lowes to get a set. Now that I finally got the horn outta the way, I can't get up in there to loosen the two bolts. Not only are they really tight but I only have about a half inch of clearance with a small wratchet. Any ideas from people that have done this before?

I just found another thread on this. I'm off to try a hammer and/or a breaker bar. And get another beer!

Hammer didn't work. And I don't have anything to use for a breaker bar. The real issue is that my small wratchet just barely fits in that area. And the damn torx bit is loose in the bolt head. I'm using the 45 but it sure doesn't fit very well.

My dad always told me growing up that I'd better find a job that made a lot of $$$ because I'd always have to pay people to do things for me. Maybe he was right! But I still haven't found that job. LOL My dad and brother can fix anything. I didn't get that talent!

This job is putting a good dent in a 12 pack though!

It may not be a 45, it might be a 47 or something. I ran into the same thing when I changed my transmission fluid. I used a 25 torx bit on the screws on the cover and darn near stripped one trying to torque to specs. Wandered down to O'Reilly's auto parts and they had a 27 torx bit and it fit perfect.

+1 on that

BTW, love your sig. One of the best bumper stickers I'd ever seen said "When it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight..." then it had the U.S. Marine emblem underneath it. Brought a smile to my face....and made once again proud to be an American!!

Good news. One more beer, a little more elbow grease, and I got the bolts off. I now have an engine guard properly installed!! Lookin' forward to riding tomorrow morning!
Thanks for the moral support and not allowing me to drink alone! LOL

I removed my engine guard a couple days ago to paint it, if I recall correctly it was a 47 torx, I also had to first remove the horn so I could have clearance and I used a 6" extention of course mine is a 1200L but I don't think that should make a difference
