Default Ez pass mount

hey all the other day i ordered an ez pass for my bike. i was under the assumption that it was going to be at leats half the size of the one that goes in the car but i was wrong, its the same size. what i am looking for from you guys is either a way to makeshift somekind of holdster, or if somebody sells something to hold the pass. also does the ez pass read the scanner through the leather tool bag?

The scanner will read your tag through a leather handlebar bag. Least way they do in Texas.

I went to the local AAA and bought an underwater camera bag. I put the EZ pass around my neck ahd hold it overhead as I pass through the toll. Did not work in a coat pocket.

Same EZ-Pass for scoots and cages. At least here in MD, I'm allowed to register up to 4 vehicles on one EZ-Pass transponder, and I move the transponder from vehicle to vehicle.

Tried leaving the EZ-Pass in my jacket's top pocket, but the sensor never saw it. I had registered the bike's license plate with the EZ-Pass folks, so there was no fine for toll evasion, but they deducted full $2.00 fare toll instead of the 40 cent commuter rate.

I got a handlebar mount for the bike, but it's an ugly black plastic thing that looks like a soap dish. The EZ-Pass folks used to sell them, but they stopped. Now EZ-Pass justs instructs you to search the web. RAM mounts can set you up, but it's going to be pricey.

Fork bag, tank bag, tour pack, they all work. I've also got mine to work in my jacket pocket, you just have to make sure that the side of the EZ Pass that mounts closest to the windscreen always faces out.

guess it depends on where you are... In TX they give you a special "foil" bag to put it in if you DON"T want to be charged. Like if my wife has it in her purse in someone else's car we still get charged unless it's in the little protective foil baggy.

It would definitely work in a tool bag. Ours have been in a leather wallet in a leather purse in the trunk and still read it.

Don't get too excited yet. I have tried every technique there is including waving it and holding it in my teeth. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I had it out once with a toll Booth collector as I am waving the damn thing in front of her face. They all read at different angles and locations.

There are some old readers that just won't read it, usually the ones with the cross bar that raises to let you pass when it's paid. We have a few here in NYC like that, PIA! I've had it in a shirt pocket, waved it and taped it to the windshield - didn't matter. An attendant or cop had to come take it from me, slam it on the reader and then push a button to get the gate to raise. One cop told me it was the crap machine at fault. Be sure the side that's supposed to be velcroed to the windshield is facing forward or up if you slip it in your bag. On the Road King I velcroed it inside the lid of the left saddlebag and it works a charm on all other readers. When you apply for the EZPass be sure to register your bike and license plate with them. Modern toll booth readers have cameras that record your plate so even if it doesn't read the chip it will register the plate, deduct the toll and you shouldn't get a ticket. On the Sporty I usually slip it in the fork bag with the locks.
