How to polish push rods?

How to polish push rods?
what are some of the ways you guys/gals have used to polish your engines push rod covers while still on the bike? have an engine with some pretty dingy ones. thanx in advance.

have any of you ever tried a power tool to clean them? i have not but im being lazy about doin them, wonderin how that would work and what product would be best to use with.
i have the solution for you, pull 'em and powdercoat them black, that's what i did. *** chrome!

0000 steel wool and brasso or shoestring and any metal polish. shoestring gets all around, steel wool only gets the visible face and whatever you can reach around the sides, but cleans better
