Default OH S@#*!! Can you help?

OK my bike has been having the rear cyl. miss. Already posted a thread for that. Now I have a new problem. While taking the battery out I hit the wrench to the roker cover and sparks threw now the bikes DEAD. I have looked for the fuse box and on threads on here and I am pretty sure I don't have one. What do I need to replace to gain my power back?

This sucks one problem on top of the other.

Hell at this point someone can even call me and talk me through it.

Bike is 1997 XL1200

My fuse box for my 96 is under the seat.
Some bikes have it under the triangle cover plate on the left side of the bike.

Default Still looking

I can see where there is a place where it could have cliped in on the side of the mount where the relays are but I can not for the life of me find the fuse box. Is that where the main fuse is? I have nothing as far as power goes.

Is it possible that the alarm is part of your problem? I only ask because I had a 91 Mustang with an alarm for which I didn't have the fob. I had an incident which caused some issues. short version is I had to rip out all of the alarm stuff to get the car started again

Same with my Jeep. Really sounds like you just blew a fuse though... Where the hell is that thing!? Get a service manual quick!

you may have killed the battery, you can test it with a meter if you have one. I would also check into that alarm thing, it might need reset.

Default This is unbelieveable

I got all the alarm unhooked and removed but still no damn fuse box. Behind my triangular cover sits the ignition module. Under my seat there is no box with a clip. Just some box that does not open that says Badlands on it. I have no idea what it is but its sealed. I can take pictures and show you what I am looking at. I can't afford a service manual right now. Hell I barley can afford the bike but I am about at my wits end.

Default No Power

First off, you're assuming that because there is no power there must be a fuse somewhere that is blown. Ain't necessarily so.

Do you have power at the battery terminals? Start there. Then do you have power at the ends of the battery cables? If no to either question, then there is no point looking for a blown fuse that might not exist. The 95 & 96 have circuit breakers, no fuses. There are 4 minor circuit breakers and 1 larger main circuit breaker to the right of the 4 smaller ones. You need to check for power at the two terminals of the main circuit breaker. You need power at both terminals. If it goes in, but doesn't come out, then there's the problem. You can trouble-shoot electrical problems like this with a simple 12v test light that has a light in the handle and an alligator clip on the end of a ground wire.
