Default stumped, need to figure this problem out now....the sagga continues

so before i tore my 04 down this last time i took her on one last ride, not very far, but i noticed on my way home at a light she just cut out on me for no reason... figured ahhh maybe a fluke thing....tore her down (chopped cam cover and pulled the primary cover) put it all back together and i went for a ride today and she did it 2 times that ride (about 45 miles) then 1 during another ride (about 30 miles)

all the times the bike was hot (got a turkey temp thing today, temps are reading at 190 F) i have an oil cooler (jagg) but i'm not sure what the issue is???

bike starts and seems to run just fine. and she doesn't seem to chug then cut out, just shuts right off for some reason?? fire her up and i'm good to go riddin some more.

i have not checked the plugs, gonna go out and do that now, i haven't done anything to the carb. same gas, i did instal a new inline fuel filter but i have always had one, this one is just new,

i have noticed randomly that after its been runnin sometimes i will hit the starter button and there will be a lag, but that has happend in the past (i think i read on here somethin about when the bike is hot it will just do that sometimes).

anyone have any clues????

my first thought is to pull the carb and clean the jets but with a new fuel filter that doesn't seem to make sense.....

ideas....suggestions????

I am by far not the best Harley mechanic on here but I'll throw out some suggestions and see if you might find something to help. You stated it does not chug, I assume no coughing or backfire before it does this. Several things can cause something like this. Does your bike have a cam or crank sensor? The coil will sometimes do this also if it breaks down then when it cools off it works again. and my last is maybe the oil pump. (this was Soups problem) again I am probably wrong but there are some things to think about. Sometime two heads are better than one.

The fact that it doesn't spit & sputter when it dies indicates to me that it's electrical rather than fuel.
Have you checked the infamous battery connections, also check the fuse box for corosion, other than that maybe a bad coil or crank position sensor?

See the Sticky at the top of this (Sporty) section called Helpful DIY'S.
Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

A "lag" when you hit the starter button is typically a bad battery cable connection or a failing battery (not unusual this time of year in FL)

yeah, no coughing or backfires, i think it does have a cam sensor? is that the plug infront...under the cam on the block side??? hope that makes sense

my coil is and has been instaled upside down and i was having issues when washing it until i put some plug greese on it...now it works fine...or it has been till now

i don't think its the oil pump because my oil temp is stayin pritty consistantly at 190 F ...wouldn't it be hotter if it wasn't pumpin right???

how do i check for oil pressure??

Check your DTC's. The CPS will typically throw codes P0373 or P0374
And yes, I've been through 3 sensors.

Old Skool, you probably know more about these than I do. I am with Charley on this one. If it is a sensor, it would most likely throw out a code in the computer. and the battery terminals I forgot to mention is a good place to start. I do not know where the sensors are located, I was just throwing them out there to check. they are common sense, somewhere it can rub the cam or the crank. and it tells the coil when to fire. (timing)
