AT 113, WHAT WAS THE DISPLAYED SPEED ON YOUR SPEEDOMETER OR WAS THAT NOT AN OPTION AT THE TIME?

111 or 112mph........prolly could have squeezed out a bit more, not much more, but some.

But that was enough.

Next time you go to Sturgis, stop by in Montana. They have lots of straight roads there, and don't seem to care what speed you drive. If you crash, it's on you though.

Where I live there is a 9 mile levy road with no intersections, no turn outs maybe the largest critter a rabbit. Thats where everyone including the local LEOS take their toys to see what they'll do.

No racing just individuals on a two lane country road. Safest place outside of a controlled track you can find on a public street. You must have something similar where you are? Oh and BTW I've had one bike hit the ceiling at 170MPH and I have as yet to take my newest one out there. Maybe this weekend.

Default Sportster does go off the line well, but...

I love my new Sportster, Nimble, Responsive, Handles very well and it is pretty quick off the line. But top end isn't it's strong suit. I had a Suzuki Burgman Scooter (650 exec) up to 110 mph

I have been a nudge over 100 mph (per speedometer). It had more in it for sure, but maximum speed has never been my quest. All bikes I have ever owned I have taken to the "ton" at least once. Just a personal ritual...

Here are the RPM limitations for the 883 and 1200 models.

883cc @ 6200rpm : 110mph
1200cc @ 6200rpm : 127mph

I would assume with the 7000rpm redline you may could push it a little further.

RPM limitations and theoretical speeds based on them seldom pan out. Generally the motor doesn't have enough torque to overcome the wind resistance/rider weight to even get to redline.

The Highway Patrol cares.

True, we don't have a lot of 'em, but they're there when you least expect it. They're good at that.

I had my 1200 up to 115 on I-10 once. Still had a bit of throttle left too, but my exit was comin' up! I miss that bike..
