Bought my 07 roadster in July - I've had it to 100 3 times - gets there quick and seems to have alot left...some day I'll find an open road and the nerves to try and break 120....
Been just over 100 mph 3 times. Here it starts to feel wrong, real shakey. Didn't want to take it where it wasn't, and I wasn't, comfortable with it. Here in Florida, I think, the new law is 30mph. over the limit is $1000 for 1st offence. It is fun to do 100 but like has been said, too much can go wrong there. The bikers Bitc#ed about the new law made just for them and it now applies to cages too!
From the stock 883 RPM vs MPH chart. 6200 rpm will give you 41, 59, 77, 93, and 110 mph for gears 1 through 5.
fyi You will very seldom see an HD speedometer that isn't reading four to five % high.
Bwana
So I tested gears 1-3. 1st 39, 2nd 59, 3rd 80. I don't plan on going any further any time soon. If the speedo is 5% off (and it may be), the 80 in 3rd gear may be the indication of this. Point is, is every bike going to run the exact same mph at the exact same revs? I don't think so. If I was at 110, it was too fast for the highway, and I won't do it again there. Maybe somewhere a little more safe and with propper gear I would. Anything over 90 gets a little uncomfortable on a sportie. I'm not trying to be some badass, I was just answering the question with the speedo reading at the fastest I have ever driven the bike. The fact is, the speedo read 115.
