I know a couple guys that do this on G class airport strips.
G class airports are not flight regulated and you can get away with this sorta thing since they are generally not busy.
Look around your area for one, and see what the deal is.
From the stock 883 RPM vs MPH chart. 6200 rpm will give you 41, 59, 77, 93, and 110 mph for gears 1 through 5.
fyi You will very seldom see an HD speedometer that isn't reading four to five % high.
Bwana
Charts have very little to do with the reality of performance of a motorcycle. In the real world there is rider weight, wind and many other factors.
As for the tuner having nothing to do with the speed of the bike at certain rpms, the exhaust and upgraded intake feed more air to the engine and the tuner feeds more gas resulting in changes in horsepower and torque at different rpms. It changes everything. I never it the rev limiter before I put the upgrades on because the bike was not fully broken in yet, so I don't have any idea where the rev limit vs speed might be stock.
As for the speedo issue, who cares, it read 115 mph, IF it is 5% high then I was doing about 110 and it had more to go.
If your rev limiter is set at 6200 and you haven't changed the gearing it doesn't matter how much gas and air you add or how much hp you gain, the bike will not go over 110 at 6200 rpm. Question? Did you increase the limit of the rev limiter?
I rode the xr1200 at the demo in over the weekend and got it to 110 but I have a speeding ticket only a week old that I have a lawyer taking care of so quckly backed it down from there, but it got there fast and had plenty more, was a fun bike but not for me... Nightster please
