So does anyone have any experience with the Screamin Eagle Pro Sportster performance cylinder heads? I know that most people on here think that the SE parts are crap but they don't sound half bad from the un-detailed listing in the catalog. All the catalog says is they are decked to provide a 55cc combustion chamber that raises the compression to 10.5:1 with stock pistons and they have the Bee Hive springs which NRHS says are pretty decent.
Does anyone know what the valve sizes are? I was looking at getting the stage 2 head work done on my OEM heads by NRHS ($850), but then I found these SE heads that are cheaper (found an indy that sells them for $670 instead of $799) and they are decked which kills 2 birds with one stone (don't need to buy high compression pistons or I could and get even higher compression) and saves money.
ASWRACING says the new SE HEADs are the same as 04-up XL1200R heads and you might need shorter pushrods due to the .050 decking. Valves are 1.810" and 1.575" and stainless steel.
But then your giving up on the porting and HP that's come with the stage 2. Go with the stage 2 lite for 750 bucks !! and save the money from buying new pushrods. In the end it might be cheaper?
I'm running the older SE head's and planning to send them in for stage 2 work this winter too.

Stay away from them and have your heads ported. Harley builds a lot of SE heads for differant bikes and you can always get better results from porting.
Harley thinks bigger is better thats why there heads don't work, the stock heads are almost too big to start with.
You're talking about a lousy $180 differance to do it right or to do it CHEAP.
In my experiance doing it right always trumps doing it cheap.
Thanks for the responses. I went to my local dealer yesterday and they also told me I would be better off porting my stock heads. They quoted me $400 for a port and polish if I bring the heads in to them. Then I would still need to up grade the valve train to my liking. With all things added I think NRHS is still a better deal, because I don't think that $400 for port polish includes rebuilding the head after wards. I guess I will just have to break out the calculator and figure out just what it is I want.
A $400 port job is going to be a piece of crap a good port job is worth more than that and you know it because you where talking ****** earlier.
The last set I did cost a lot more than that and it was worth it.
Cheap and real performance don't go together, just save a little longer you won't regret it!!

look around for a machine shop that does heads. T can guarantee that is what the local stealer is going to do. they do not have a machine shop or skilled machinist sitting just waiting for someone like you to walk in. They use a local machine shop. it will be alot cheaper. have them port and polish the heads and mill it and install new valves.

They actually do have an in house machine shop. They gave me a tour of it while I was there. Its Eagle Harley Davidson and Buell in Lafayette, IN. They are actually known for being one of the best Harley engine builders in the Midwest. They claim to have built the fastest "used to be all stock" v-rod on the drag strip. It runs mid 8s. They've also built all of Michael Schumacher's Harleys for him. So I can't really say I don't trust their work. But I still don't think that it stands up to the likes of NRHS which is known nationally.
