Default Decal Removal

Any tips on removing the decals on my '10 883 Low Sporty? Do decals come off just by peeling them back? Don't want to leave any scars on the new tins.

You might want to double check, as many decals (such as those on the gas tank) are usually put on before they apply the 'clear coat'...

+1 - unless the factory has changed things lately, tank decals I've seen are under the clear coat.

Most, decals not all are under the clear coat. All you have to do is look at them to tell. If they are not, it;s easy to take them off. Go to an auto body supply shop and ask them for the right tool. It's a rubber disk that mounts to a drill. It will take them off without hurting the paint under them. Most paints fade, so you may see an outline of the decal. Compound then wax the area. Best of luck, HOLLYWOOD......................

I have a 2008 1200C and have removed the front and rear reflectors, center stainless trim on gas tank and both tank emblems. Texas heat combined with dental floss and goo gone took care of all of them with no problem. My tank emblems were on top of the clear coat and you can never tell they were there. I did a good high speed polish and wax to remove the small scratches left behind in the clear coat due to me scrubbing the excess adhesive off. My sig pic only shows the rear reflectors and tank trim removed.

Default They are under the clear coat ...

Darn ... thanks for making me go back and look twice ... the decals are indeed under the clear coat. And there is plenty clear coat over the decals ... no way I am removing them ... darn it ... really dislike decals.
