Smile Bought a Triumph

Bought a 09 Triumph America yesterday. Will pick it up later next week as they're customizing it. Will be putting my 07 883L up for sale soon. It was just time to upgrade to a bike that can handle the highway a bit better. The 883 is just too hard on my body to ride long distances. Guess I'm getting old.

Will be listing a few things for sale in the next month or so. Have learned some great things on this forum. Thanks.

Congrats! I know my opinion is probably in the vast MInority here but I like Triumphs; I know my son loves my neighbor's Speed Triple. I'm anxious to see the Rocket III Roadster coming out early next year...I test rode an '08 Classic and was very impressed with them.

Congratulations, Triumph makes a good bike and you will not be disappointed with your decision. I am one of the lucky people that has not had a great deal of trouble with my Road King but if I had to deal with some of the nightmares I have heard of I can tell you right now my next bike would be something other than a Harley Davidson.

I've always liked the Triumph's as well, and they are true classics....

Don't see that many of them these days, but you use to see as many 'chopped Triumph's' out there on the roads as 'chopped Harley's'....

Good luck with the new ride, and I'm sure you will enjoy it..

Congratulations. I had an 05 America and really enjoyed it. A much smoother ride than the Sporty. Stock it should out perform your 883. The first thing I swapped out on the America was the horn it is very weak. I would also recommend the TOR (Triumph Off Road) exhaust. Better sound and a little more power.

I lusted after a Street Triple for a while. Great looking bikes and from what I hear they're good performers. Just curious though, why not upgrade to a bigger HD like a Dyna?

Thanks for the info tiger rider and to getlost, I didn't want to pay the prices for a larger HD or deal with the weight. I'm only 5'4". The Triumph was a great price and weights 80 lbs. less than my sporty. Got windshield and saddlebags from Triumph at no cost to me or the dealer and $1000 worth of customizing from Triumph as well.

Also, our local HD dealer is in bankruptcy court now as he owes about $8 mil to HD and $ to Yamaha, Kawi, Suzuki etc. So needless to say we have no other dealers in the area to check out.

The America fits me like a glove and it's a great ride.

Before I got my Sportie, I had narrowed the choices to the Sportster and a Triumph Legend. I went and spoke to the guys at a shop near my house, and they said that some repairs were dealer only on the Triumph, but they could do anything to a Sportie. That made me decide to go with the Sportster, a decision I have not yet regretted.

The Triumph was a sweet ride too. Wish I could have kept both.

TRAITOR! Remove yourself from our presence and never return! LOL
Congratulations. I haven't heard a lot about the new Triumph but I also looked at the America before I bought my 1200C. Nice looking bike.
