Hi all, I just ordered the 1200 conversion it for my 2004 883c. I am really excited about it and can't wait for it to be installed. I called the dealer i go with a couple days ago and asked for a price on doing the conversion. I was pretty shocked when they said $850 out the door counting parts, labor, and taxes. Also rejetting and dynoed. I figured it would cost much more. So today i ordered it and hopefully it will be done by next week. It's just the jugs, cylinders, and gaskets. I can always put different cams and heads on it later if i decide. Will i be shocked with the results as far as way more power? The 883 was a great motor for just me but when i rode 2 up with my girlfriend just seemed sluggish. Just excited about the getting the conversion. Thanks all!!!
U will be surprised, I had that done on my 04 with all screaming eagle parts. I actually didn't due the cams. The Tech that was actually going to be doing the conversion told me to save my money it wasn't really worth it because they were direct bolt on cams. I cannot believe the difference. I noticed it right away ones I started it up. The pull in 2nd gear it the best IMO. Once you break it in you will have a sleeper. Remember that the gearing is different in the 883 than the 1200. I'm still using the stock gearing you will have alot and I mean alot more power in the low end. I was wondering if it would be riding high on the RPM's. I made out fine with it, right after I hit the break in period I rode my bike to Lincoln NH and still averaged 54 miles per gallon. You will not regret it at all. Hope all goes well.
Thats a good price! I have a coupon here from my dealer (Bay City, MI) for an 883 to 1200 conversion for $1450.00 installed. That price however includes a Super Tuner.

Well i picked up the bike earlier tonight! I rode it home from the dealer which is about 50 miles from my house and it was 35* outside. Little chilly, but not to bad. Only got her up to about 50. Trying to break it in the correct way. Something i did notice about it is that after i got her home from the dealer, the motor had seemed to quiet down quite a bit in just that 50 mile ride. Thought that was intersesting. It seems to run great. I can notice the extra power, but i can't wait for the break in period to come to an end so i can open her up. Whats the reccommended oil change intervals when breaking a converion in? I was going to change it after the first 500 miles, then a 1000 miles after that. Will that work? Thanks all!
Did anyone else notice that when they first heard their engine after the conversion it was a little noisy? After i put 50 miles on it after the conversion it sounds like the sewing maching on steroids. It was just a little noisier for the first few miles.
yep, the motor has a louder sound, and the exhaust sound got deaper. Remember to vary your speed during the breakin. My dealer actually told me not to down shift during the breaking in period and not to lug the motor( I do not do that anyway) and not to red line it.
