Default EFI Tuning my Thunderheader - Need some help

A little background info:
My 2007 1200 Low had Rush Slip on 1.5" pipes on it (recommended by the dealer) which they told me I would NOT have to do any special tuning. They worked fine for about 6 months, until a pesky sputter started. When I reached idle speed, the engine would sputter. They replaced all sensors, 02, crank sensor and also replaced the fuel injectors. Still sputtered. Then they said I needed a fuel management system after much searching for the problem and no resolution.

At this point, I decided that it was time to upgrade the exhaust anyway so I bought Black Thunderheader exhaust system. It sounds awesome so far. Now, for the confusing part.

They are recommending that I purchase the Screaming Eagle Super Tuner and then do the 4 hour Dyno tuning to the tune of $450 for the tuner and another $350.00 for the Dyno. I also considered a new Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner $150.00 (Sportster model) Is it just me or does this sound outrageously expensive for these three parts??. They are telling me that the Power Commander V is junk and won't put it on. Local (non-Harley shop mechanics) are telling me to do the Power Commander.

Have any of you been down this road and what advice would you give me about it? I have three days for a "Winter Dyno Special". They are going to give me $100.00 off the Dyno if I di it in the next two days.
Please help.
Thanks,
J.D.

I bought the HD tuner because I put a SE air filter on and SE slip on exhaust on my 2007 Sporty. They ( HD mechanics) told me i could change the air filter or the exhaust but I could not do both without mapping my motor. In the mean time i upgraded to a 1200 SE conversion kit installed by HD mechanics. I got my bike back and it pulled strong in all gears but they tried to talk me into a dyno. I never got the dyno. They said the tuner is just to get the bike running, the dyno is performance driven. I said I have good performance out of this bike and I did not get the dyno. Maybe this is my loss, but my Sporty will move.

In addition, I do not have a fuel management system. I bought the SE fuelie and the HD mechanics would not put it on because they said it did not work. So I said fine. I don't think I need one.

I'm running Thunderheaders and use the SERT. If you buy the SERT, you can probably find an indy to do all of your dyno work for cheaper. Luckily I had a friend with the dyno set up and he hooked me up nice.
I would definitely suggest doing the dyno to get all the popping and sputtering out. Makes a huge difference.

Thanks guys for the replies. I am toying with the idea of getting an S.E. air cleaner as well and I do agree, the SERT is probably the best way to go. Just hated putting $650 in pipes, $450 for the SERT, $150 for the air cleaner and another $300 for the DYNO for a grand total of $1,500.00 into my wife's Sportster. She better ride the damn thing after this is all over! ha, ha.
Keep it between the ditches!
