I am looking to put some mini apes on my 2004 1200c, and would like to know which ones any of you guys would recomend, idealy I would like some that are nice and narrow at the bottom, and would like to be able to internaly wire them.
I would also like to remove the pull back riser and replace with 2'' to 3'' straight ones, has anyone done this on a 2004 up custom, I know I will have to change the speedo, and have already bought a front mounted one from a pre 2004 model on ebay.
BTW...Burly also has a cable kit that includes wires, clutch, throttle and brake cables in one package, measured to the proper length for the ape hangers you choose. I'm unsure of the cost of those.

nash midget gimps are pretty cool, and roland sands makes some nice ones but were too pricy for me. I just went with the harley mini apes, they were gnurled and dimpled already, and when I told the parts department what bike and what bars I had, they knew exactly what cables I needed.
Hill Country Custom Cycles has some cool narrow apes. They offer a complete kit for about $350. It includes your bars all necessary cables and wire extensions. I just put a set on my 99 custom
I hope you are good at wiring because that stock riser is full of wire and connectors that have to be moved somewhere or they look like the devil.
There are alot of cool looking Z bars out there that would look great on top of the stock riser.
I recently swapped everything over. I HATED the stock riser. I ordered 12 inch narrow apes from J and P. 60 bucks I think. Got magnum cables from my local indy. Im super satisfied with mine. You wont regret it.
The 04 and up sportys are cleaned up alot in the riser housing as opposed to the previous years. There is no slack or extra wiring in their anymore. I had wideglide bars on my 06 custom but hated the look with the pullback riser. So I put a risers and top clamp off of a nightster on mine. Now when I save the money I am going to get the burly narrow glide 12 or 14" apes on mine. I have to measure and see what height will work with the cables and wiring I already upgraded to.
