I,d paint them .
I bought a second set and painted them sierra red pearl to match my tank and fenders .
Looks 100 % better to me .Chrome is nice .
My opinion on yours is paint them blue , the color of your flames .
The solid blue will blend in to your rear fender flames .

I agree with the paint option in your case. And think the suggestion for blue is a good one. It will flow nicely into the blue on your rear fender. There is also a cheap option for these covers. I put the stick on chrome and brushed aluminum decorations on mine (see below) ...it's an improvement, but not as good as paint or chrome.

I bought a set of chrome covers thinking they would look better. I only put the one on because they back ordered the other side. It worked out good for me because I thought that with the chrome one, it did'nt look all that good. I took it back and cancelled the order. Painted the stock covers with a paint I got from the local auto parts store that matched up very close. It was a simple job. the spray cans worked well with minimal splatter so I got a good spray/paint job. I'm happy as a lark. Although the match is not exactly perfect, it suits me just fine and you would never know it unless you were made aware of it before hand. Total cost. 10 dollars. If I was computer literate, I would post you a picture but, I'm not so you"ll have to take my word on it. Best of luck. The success of the job was in the prep. Make sure that you clean, sand and, prep the existing covers properly so that the new paint will look like it's supposed to.

I like the chrome myself... but in your case... I would go with painted... yeah and I would spend the extra bucks and continue with the theme of your bike and to the flames.
