Can anyone tell me how wide a rear fender is for a 2004 and up Sportster? I got a paint set in trade and the fender I got is 8 inches wide and won't fit in my 2003. I have considered cutting the frame and making it fit because this paint job is badass. If it will fit a 2004 and up, I may just trade this bike out for a 2004 or newer. Yes, the paint job is that nice. It is a $3500 paint job.
Someone did a paint job for you on tins that were supposed to be the same as the ones you traded in and sent you ones that won't fit your bike?
I wouldn't have paid a dime... I think someone owes you the paint job on the correct tins. You shouldn't have to get a different bike cause someone else screwed up. (Assuming that was the case)
I bought the 2003 for $3400 for the OL. Well, she can't afford it right now, but I am considering keeping it anyway. Anyway, a dude wanted to trade tins with me. I have the blue anniversary tins and he has tins that have a custom paint job that he won in a raffle. He took the painter the tins to paint and the dude did a phenomenal job. Anyway, I start to install the custom painted tins on the 2003, but the rear fender is too wide. I compared it with my 2008 Street Bob and it is almost indentical dimensionally. Anyway, upon further investigation, I discovered that the 2004 rear fender is wider but wanted to confirm with you all. The guy was suppose to buy a 2003 and earlier fender and get it painted, but I have been waiting since September so I told him I would just take the fender back and make something work. I wanted to keep the 2003 because I got such a good deal on it, but I think I am more attached to the tins than I am the bike.
I think I have seen those tins before somewhere. Maybe it was posted on here somewhere before. Those are sweet!!! I see, it would be worth getting another bike to fit those on if you can't make them work with your 03.
