Anyone know of any good cleaning tips? I live near the ocean and its foggy all the time and I'm sure the sea air is going to kill my bike. Does anyone know of some good cleaning tips to protect it the best i can. I have some HD polish but is there anything else I can maybe use to help keep it clean and safe? Also, is using a duster a good idea before wiping the bike down? I think I've been noticing some small scratches in the paint and thinking it could be from little dust particles or maybe something like that. Any advice would help a lot. Thanks!
if you have an air compressor for tools and such i'd suggest you use one of the air blower attachments to get all of the salt and dust off the bike before you start to put a cloth to the paint.
after that i'd get some foaming cleaner such as the kind S100 makes. this will cause the dust to lift off and wash away without having to actually swirl a cloth around on the paint. once you've rinsed it off just use some sort of polish and a microfiber cloth and you're good to go
It's the bits you DON'T see that are going to suffer from the sea air.I use a car wash and put it one of those pump, garden sprayers it gan get ito those hidden crooks and crannies and the wax content gives a bit of a prtective coating.I spray (Q20)moisture repelling lube on the spokes.(don't get on brake disk pads). And i use a silicone spray for the rubber boots and cable covers.H.
