Default Low Fuel Light ( my solution)

I had the bike in for 1K servicing at the dealer and got a call from them about the low fuel light coming on. I told them it had done that since I got the bike. They started checking into it and disconnected the fuelpak and the light went off. Right now they are working on a solution with the fuelpak people on a cure. I had the stage one done when I bought the bike. I have had the low fuel light problem since I took it out of the dealership. I came here and read it was a problem for most sporty riders so I ignored it. I just set the speedometer to miles and would get gas about evey 100 miles.
Now I find out the problem is the fuelpak and it can be resolved. Perhaps this can help others out there with this problem? My dealer is a good one, they don't ignore problems they fix them. I feel pretty lucky.

Exactly what "Low Fuel Light" problem are you referring to?

Most of the complaints on here, and for my bike as well (2009 1200C) is the Low Fuel Light coming on prematurely. Mine comes on anywhere from 90 - 120 miles and I still have 2 - 2.5 gallons left in my 4.5 Gal tank.
I do not have a Fuel Pak on my bike, as most other bikes with the problem don’t have one either.
Did you mean the ECM?

My low fuel light turns on when ever I get up over 60 MPH and then goes out again once I'm up over 70 MPH. I have a fuelpak. I have actually done around 110 miles straight on the highway with the low fuel light on.

Yes thelow fuel light going on prematurely is what I was talking about. The fuelpak was part of the stage one upgrade. the word fuelpak was on the invoice and the only way it was referred to in my conversation with the service department. If it is known by another name I don't know it. We could be talking about the same thing ecm & fuelpak.

It's not the fuelpak, most do it whether they are stock or no matter what fuel management system has been installed. Just another dealer that doesn't know what they are talking about.

+1. I quit relying on the low fuel light on my 08 1200c after the second tank of gas. I just go by the odometer.

Mine did it bone stock, on the interstate any speed over 65. If it is bumpy, it is even worse. It was on with a full tank when I took it in for the first check up, turn off the bike and back on, it was still illuminated so I told the service guy. It was off by the time they looked at it. Tried to tell me it was the float arm sticking on the side of the tank...but if you look at the fuel pump assembly, there is no way for that to happen. I've just come to accept it as a bad design, the itty bitty float just gets tossed around and sticks due to the vibration, or it is moving around so much that it wigs out whatever black box that runs it. Bumps just make it worse. Not the fuelpak, or atleast on mine, it was bone stock when it started. I use the trip odometer to gauge fuel, and don't pay the gas light any attention anymore. And it does "normally" come on around 90 or so miles. Might squeak 100 out it sometimes.

I bought my 09 XL883L new in July and have had the fuel light come on as well @ 90 to 110 miles after topping off the tank. Have read prior posts on the fuel light issue many times, and faithfully watch to see if i will experience the same problem in time. I have 2700 miles on the clock and the light issue hasn't happened, yet, (knock on wood), or maybe i have been just lucky. Best idea is to zero out the trip meter @ every fill. Hope there is a fix for those having problems.

When I first got my bike and saw the light come on when I knew it didn't have a reason to be on I came here and read about the problem. I started setting my odometer and refueling according to the numbers. I never mentioned it to the dealer. When they called me to tell me about the problem they included the information that they disconnected the fuelpak and the light went off. Now is this the fix on my bike? I have no idea what I do know is they have made themselves aware of the problem and they are working with the fuelpak people to resolve it. I don't know if that will work for them or not. Either way I don't think I am going to change how I ride. I will still be setting the odometer for my refueling. I should be hearing back today from them to see if this problem has been fixed or not.
