4th towards the very end, and 5th at a little over 2/3 of the revs, I get this nice spark knock sometimes. Am I the only one???
Anybody else just cracked it open on the highway and heard the "tinking" sound from the engine, if so how did u make it go away??? Im just hoping its not gonna require a re tune.
Higher octane gas or a richer afr in those regions are the easiest solutions. Are you sure it is engine knock/pre-detonation/ping (everyone has their own word for it, it seems) and not just the loud valve train getting even louder when it moves faster?
Oh yes, def not valvetrain. Mechanical parts seem to be more consistent with their noise, this i can make happen when i want to (consitently) not that i want to.

Good point. Do you have a fuel management device? If so I would be trying to see if you could richen up that area of the fuel map.
yeah, I've got fuel management. It has a fuel pack, which has always done just fine for me, and judging by the spark plugs themselves, it is doing it's job well. I wanna say it happens mostly above (what sounds like) 5k in 4th and above 4k in 5th. I guess im goin to have to call V&H and get some new numbers. Ill re- post when I know more. Granted the easiest fix would be to go easier on the throttle, but i find the fun factor lacking there.
As I understand it, ignition happens before TDC anyways. I would think that if the ignition was heppening too far before TDC it would reduce the power. Like the engine was trying to run in reverse. I haven't noticed any drop in power anywhere across the band but hey, its definitely worth looking in to. Thanks for the advice, i would have never thought of that.
