Hi, Just wondering what size the Front fork cap wrench is . I did this mod on My VTX by just swapping out the springs and can't for the life of Me remember where any big wrenches are for it. I may have used Channel locks , looking to upgrade to a socket . Will electric tape prevent damage to My chrome cap nut ? Will I have to loosen the fork bolt next to the cap to relieve the fork cap ? I red all the issues another sportster owner had with different length springs and mine are even so I have that going My way. And the spacers are going in full size . Just hoping to not make to much of a mess LOL. 65-70 and Sunshine the rest of the week, so today's the day to swap them out ....................WVleo
PS... I now have a HD 2006 shop manual thats written in English, but some of it may as well be Arabic because I am not that Mechanical
Notice the o-ring to prevent scratches and the rounded corners to help prevent cracking the chrome. It's a 1 3/8" socket that's shallow to allow working under your mounted handlebars. I think mine is from Motion Pro ("MP 08-0139" stamped on side) available through Denis Kirk, Drag Specialties, etc.
Scuba that one is nice, but $80 was more than I spent on the springs ( it's 35mm from there website ) not sure if I could get that by " She who handles all the Money " LOL . The Ebay one is $30, but I'm thinking electric tape and a 6pt. 3/8"drive 35mm from Auto Zone hopefully for less than $20. Unless I can talk Scuba into heading up I-81 for a steak lunch on the grill tommorow LOL LOL ! ........WVleo
Just an FYI, the Fork Nut Cap Socket is $19.99 + $2.75 ship HERE.
Thanks all ! I found the $20 socket SportyPig saw on EBAY from the cHarley link & bought it. Should be here in a few days. In the mean time maybe I'll tackle that Chrome Voltage Regultor the M-I-L got Me for X-mas thats been sitting on the shelf due to freeze Your ***** off temps in My Garage since the holidays LOL. Ride safe as the sun is shining the rest of the week here..............WVleo
Thanks SportyPig, It's not the chrome cover, but the chrome replacement ( H-D part ) voltage regulator. Seems easy enough but who knows LOL LOL !.....WVleo

Really?? That's not too difficult either, but I think I may need a voltage regulator. If you want to get that stock volt reg off your hands, send me a PM.

Glad you found one. Too bad, I was thinkin' about that steak lunch. It's supposed to be nice tomorrow and I don't have to report for re-education until 4 in the afternoon.
