Default another nightster exhaust thread...

i've been looking around for pipes for my 09 nightster and just cant decide what i want. one part of me says bring out the black and stick to finding some black pips, which is pretty limited, and on the other end of the spectrum a part of me says embrace what little chrome there is and get some chromies on there.

on top of that i have NOOOOOOOOOOO clue what to go with. i like the side shots, hate the price. i don't think i want to go with short shots because EVERYONE has them. then there's the slip on straight shots. keep it looking stock but not, kind of a sleeper i guess.

my question is chrome or black....and what other brands are out there that have something unique to them? slip ons or otherwise. i found these:

http://www.jpcycles.com/search/produ...=0&results=100

those are much cheaper than the side shots with the same look.

i really am stumped here and appreciate all help. thanks guys!!!

also there is a budget here..so none of theses $700 2:!'s please

As far as looks on a Nightster you can't do better than black short shots IMHO.

Keep the stock mufflers and just cut out the baffles. A 1 1/2" hole saw will cut the weld at the back of the baffle and it will slide right out. The inside of the muffler is honeycombed so you have same back preasure and it is not a straight pipe. Total cost of your exhaust is less than $5 for the hole saw.

If your budget is really tight, you could ruff up the mufflers and heat sheilds and spray them with hi-temp engine paint.

I have some RienHart Slip-ons that sound amazing and will turn heads as they hear you coming. They are chrome with black tips. Let me know if your interested... There are a lot of people that went on the houston social ride that will vouche for their sound quality.

octane or curves are unbelievably gorgeous. doesn't seem to have any for sale so i have no idea on price and i would like to stay legal for the time being, i've seen a few guys around here get checked for baffles and me not being legal(no license just yet) i need to not draw THAT much attention to myself.

Rinehart crossbacks have half chrome and the end is black. then you can go with a black or chrome tip. I wanted the half black and chrome but, the dealer screwed up and put on all chrome. Was too excited to have a real sounding exhaust and kept them on without bitching.
