How fked am I? I decided to drain my forks while replacing my stock springs on my 08 Nightster with Progressive springs. The fluid from the 2 forks was totally different - first side was a red color and the second side was gray / brown color.
I'm guessing this explains some of the unusual handling I was experiencing.
So the big question now is what seals need to be replaced before I refill the forks? I'm looking at the service manual and I think I'll have to disassemble the forks and replace the oil seals and the dust seals... That sound about right?
Thats actually pretty common to see one side still red and the other side looking pretty dirty. If you go to about 15,000 miles for the first change both sides will be dirty looking. They need to be changed at 10,000 mile intervals, and new bushing around 40-50,000
