Talking Fork oil change.

I was reading through the service manual for my 2015 FLHTK and noticed there is no maintenance schedule for the fork oil. HD recommends a rebuild at 50,000 miles. I hate to let it go that far but since they eliminated the drain screws on the lower legs, it doesn't seem like there is a real easy way to change the oil. I've only got a few thousand miles on the bike but I was curious if any one has figured out a way to do a fork oil change on the Rushmores without tearing apart the whole front end? I've got nothing else to worry about this time of the year in the Northeast.

I just waited for the 50K service then had the premium cartridge installed during the fork overhaul.

Highly recommend you install the new Legend AXEO front suspension. Cannot tell you how much better the bike will ride and handle. Dramatically reduce front end dive too.

I just chromed the lower legs and replaced the oil with S.E. oil. Its a little thicker and feels pretty good.

Has anyone changed the oil in the forks of a Rushmore without taking them apart? Will a vacuum system work? I would not have to get it all out, just make sure to put back the same you take out. I would like to try a heavier oil prior to any other upgrades.

I have dropped the forks on my 04 and on my 15 - The 15 is Super easy,,, The Only reason to remove the outer fairing is to unplug the fender tip light.. other than that, remove fender / wheel / ing switch - the small cover that is under the ing switch - two pinch bolts and it drops down... Very easy..
