Some lady ran into the back of my bike while I was at a stoplight yesterday, and my rear tin is shot. I ride a 2003 XL 1200 Custom with the black and silver color combo, and want to find a match.
I'd say have the other driver's insurance company get a new tin color matched from MOCO. Or you could keep an eye on Ebay for the tin, or get a new one to paint.
Hold on to that dinged-up fender. 2003 tins that have 100th Anniv. markings are restricted parts from Harley and the old ones need to be returned in order to recieve a new one.
HarleyScuba is correct. The paint set you have has special markings in the paint. You can not repaint those tins. If you look at the stripes carefully you will see the Harley emblems in them. These are not for sale,so you could repaint the silver and black, but you can not get the stripes, Harley does not release them.
I really appreciate the responses! After reading through them I decided to call my local HD dealership, and, like HarleyScuba and longblack1 said, since it's an anniversary model they'll handle it there. I asked about the special Harley markings and paint, and they've got everything there to make it right.
Something tells me the lady isn't going to be too happy with the bill, but that's what happens when cagers don't pay attention. She's lucky it's just the bike that got messed up.
