New rider here, I have a 01 sportster and around 500 miles on the seat. I still get some wobbling. I was talking to a guy today and he suggested I go up 2 lbs on the air in both front and rear tires. I was also thinking of dropping the back with some 11" shocks. Just wandering if anyone has any thoughts.
Hi, 06 1200 C here and I put Avon Venoms on the bike and now riding over grated roadways, railroad crossings or grooved pavement is not a issue anymore. I run ( tho I don't recommend ) with My hands off the bars ( Throttle lock ) and the bike runs straight and true with no wobble or swaying. I ride on 36lbs. tire pressure up front and 38lbs. in the rear. ....WVleo
If you are riding on a regular paved road in good condition your bike should not wobble at all. We are not talking about vibration here but a wheel wobble, right? You need to have that checked out. It could be out of balance or maybe even a bent rim. Either way it is not good. Have it checked.
thanks everyone, I'm running shinko tires front and back, max pressure for the front cold is 33lbs and 41 for the rear. Is it safe to go over the 33 on the front? I noticed WVleo from above is running 36lbs.
Recommended tire pressures vary based on the tire manufacturers design specifications. You should refer to the manufactures website for the recommended inflation pressure.
An 01 with 500 seat miles smells USED. Generally nothing wrong with that depending where you got it etc. Had a similar prob on a 74 74 I got as a box job. Turned out it and the rider had been run over by a delivery truck. Frame was tweaked a tad.
Sooo... After you check out the free to inexpensive solutions and should you still have a wobble, have the stealership put it up on the frame machine and see if everyting is as it should be. - my 0.02
