Default Swapping Bars...HELP!

Well I attempted to swap my mini apes out for a pair of 12 inchers from Road 6 Customs...

I thought it would be a simple swap, but being a noob at this of course something went wrong. Honestly how hard can it be to extend wires in order to have the proper length for internal wiring? Well I cut the wires, soldered on 6 inch extensions, and now my brake light will not come on! I'm hoping my problem is a blown fuse, and I've come to this conclusion because my brake light will not come on when I push the foot brake also. Does that sound about right? Well I'm gonna see if this is my problem tonight after work. I'm hoping I don't have to take it to the shop for a simple task of swapping bars, but I may have to.

Does anybody have any other suggestions of what might be wrong? Any help will be appreciated!

Default Brake light

The brake lights have a switch ...witch gets compressed by the lever in the off position, when you pull the lever it,pops out and switches on the brake light.
This is a rubber covered little button switch which sits on the Throttle/front brake housing.if the housing is put back (switching out bars)and this button is not seated correctly you won't have working brake lights.
So open up the housing turn on the ignition if you have brake lights now that the button is unobstructed, this solves your problem.
When putting the housing back together, carefully seat rubber button under the lever tongue.some guys use a small piece of plastic. if done correctly the brake lights will now go off and only come back on when the levers are used.

Check fuses. If the front brake light switch is messed up it would have no effect on the rear brake pedal switch. Therefore, since the brake light won't come on at all, it may be the fuse. Also check your bulb. It's a dual-filament bulb so the one filament could be bad.

Default Hi there

Yes it does effect both front and rear brakes, the two levers activate the same rear brake light.

No, if the front switch is broken the rear brake pedal will still activate the light. The brake lever and brake pedal have two different switches. Since the light won't operate with the brake pedal either, then it isn't an issue with the front brake lever switch.

Like I said I'm a noob, and apparently a dumba$$ since I never bought a service manual (already ordered it after today). But I found the fuses and that is my problem! Thank God! An also thank y'all for all the help!
