hey there, i have an electric problem on my 09 nightster. it starts properly, runs ok, but after the engine warms up, the battery light turns on and after that, after few km, the battery dies and the bike stops running. it appears that the alternator is not charging he battery after the engine is hot but i want to hear more oppinions . please help!
I'm having the EXACT same problem. i thought it was the battery so i replaced it...went for a ride and as sooon as she was warm the light came on. i rode strait to harley to check it out. hopefully they'll have my bike fixed before i die of old age and waiting. I HATE TAKING IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE STEALERSHIP. THEY TAKE TOO DAMN LONG!

can you please tell me what was broken after you take it from the dealer?, please, i dont want to take the transmision down knowing that the stator could not be the only problem.
unfortunately i think we have a bad batch of stators or regulators with the 09 nightsters, mine started acting up yesterday during a 160 mile ride, intermittent while riding but didn't come back on over the last 20 or so miles, it did set a P0562 code.
i am calling the dealership tonight to see when i can drop it off.
what sucks is this is my first Harley which i bought because all of my friends
said they no longer had reliability issues, i have had it since beginning of April
and just turned 2k on the odo.

being an 09 arent you still under the 2year 24k warranty?
If you run the bike too long after the stator or the voltage regulator goes bad it will cause the other to go bad also. Those are both around $100 each. The voltage regulator is very easy to replace. The Stator is a real PITA to replace!! And I'm sad to say the stator is more likely to fail than the voltage regulator.
i just called and they cant get me in until thursday, hopefully they can get it fixed quick whatever it is as we have a ride scheduled for weekend of the 26th.
i guess i should have opted for the extended warranty also.
