I used wd40 on mine works great on sap and all sorts of sticky gunk. First use some small fishing line to work behind the badges or whatever your removing unless it's a sticker.

Yep! WD-40, a terrycloth towel, and for any tough spots or peeling up edges, a soft flexible putty blade. Took the fender reflectors off my sporty when installing rigid sideplates no sweat, and the paint is fine. Re-wax when done.

Thanks. I think I'll try the Goo Gone. I have used 3m adhesive remover once, and it messed up my paint (on my car). Not sure why, was supposed to be safe for all paints and clearcoats. If I can find my heatgun at work, I'll try to remove em with that, then clean up any leftover residue with the GooGone. Thanks for all the replies.
Would that have been an aftermarket paint job... non-oem?

Sure seems like that could have been the reason....

All bodyshops use a quality wax and grease remover to remove adhesive residue. It will not damage the paint. NAPA sells wax and grease remover by the quart, gallon or 5 gallon pail. What does damage the paint is the courseness of the cloth used. I use old cotton T shirts as rags for this application.

to get the emblems off, try waxed dental floss...it breaks more often than fishing line but i've had the line leave marks on the paint(heat???)

No, it was factory paint. The paint didn't come off or anything like that, but it made some serious swirl marks. I buffed most of it out, but there is some evidence of swirls. The car I don't really care about, but my bike??.........That's a different story. I wish I could remember exactly what product it was, I know it was 3M and was supposed to be safe for my application. I think I'm gonna hold off for now. My brothers friend does airbrushing, so I'm gonna have skulls painted all over the tank and fenders. I'll just wait to take em off during the winter. Then I won't be worried if the paint gets a little messed up.
