Default How to remove badge gunk?

Mornin all. I want to take off the badges and chrome accent on my tank, but not sure how to remove all the gunk left over from the tape. I would hate to take them off and then screw up the paint removing the residue. Does anyone of a good product to remove it? Thanks. Oh, almost forgot. Putting on my drag bars this week sometime, whenever it stops raining. Then I can post some picks of my bike. Thanks.

For removal of adhesive residue, there are several items you can use. Check on the net for "removing adhesive residue". They recommend nail polish remover, 91% rubbing alcohol, petroleum jelly, and PAM, all used with different applications. You could also use a heat gun when you remove everything but use it CAREFULLY! I've used one before and used CAREFULLY almost all the residue came off at the same time. Good Luck

Try this. Note I haven't tried it, but most auto body shops use 3M commercial products. They need to use something like this when removing decals, when taping cars for spraying, etc.

I've used 3M Adhesive Remover and Goo Gone. Both worked well and didn't hurt the paint.

WD 40 will remove adhesive without harming paint. The automotive stuff works better but you may have WD 40 laying around.

Another vote for WD40.....

It's cheap, almost everyone has some laying around, and it works great....

Ditto what 'txbikerboy' said, GooGone worked great for taking off the glue residue from the fender reflectors removal and didn't harm the paint or anything.

Thanks. I think I'll try the Goo Gone. I have used 3m adhesive remover once, and it messed up my paint (on my car). Not sure why, was supposed to be safe for all paints and clearcoats. If I can find my heatgun at work, I'll try to remove em with that, then clean up any leftover residue with the GooGone. Thanks for all the replies.
