Default Handlebar Bolt torque specs

I have a 2005 XL120C with stock bars. I just want to adjust them, but I want everything tightened back down to spec. I'd buy the manual, but rather save money if someone knows...

Thanks!

its 1000 ft lbs

Seriously though, how do you know that the info given will be correct? Why are you coming here asking for copyrighted information because you are to cheap to buy a manual? Its one thing asking for help if you don't understand something in the manual or can't find it. But to come here because you "would rather save some money" is pathetic. Its not like a good manual isn't available, or that they are hundreds of dollars.

If you are going to be doing any wrenching at all then a manual is a must buy. One guy decided to change his oil without the manual, but instead he drained his primary and ran it for a while when dry. So instead of costing $60 for a manual, it cost him over $600. Seems like the manual is far cheaper.

Thanks for the answer.

Guess some people don't understand that putting $60 towards food for 3 kids is more important than owning a manual to do a quick easy adjustment for a 6'4" tall guy with long arms.

Guess that makes me cheap! Putting my kids first, before my bike and comfort while riding it...

Why did you just waste and entire two paragraphs of information that didn't help the guy at all? Secondly most motor companies offer at least the user manual online and HD wants to rake us for 20 bucks plus shipping. Those we love our Hogs HD squeezes us all the time and you can't blame an owner to save a few bucks. There really is no reason to be rude to people seeking information. Thankfully there are helpful people on this forums.

If you need to look up something like that, you probably should take it to a bike shop.
One way to do it is feel the force it takes to undo the bolts, and make them just as tight.
Don't forget the towel over the gas tank before working on it, you don't want to drop the wrench on the tank, the kids might not eat for weeks with THAT bill.

I think if you can afford to own a Harley, you can spring for a manual.
The Clymer manual seems quite good to me, and I think its cheaper, and it will pay for itself over time.

So your saying you rather be a pain in the *** than buying a service manual?

The SERVICE manual averages about $60 and is the best money you can spend on your Harley.

I don't think he wasted 2 paragraphs when such a valuable lesson could be learned. No problem helping some one in need.........but fock a beggar.

If feeding your 3 kids is all relying on $60,
1: you should sell the bike and truly put them first.
2: you should of put a little thought in the way you asked your question in the first place.

Freebird,

Well said and thanks.

Wildon I didn't waste 2 paragraphs. Guy comes here beggin for copyrighted material, and chooses to be too cheap to buy a manual. I gave him a very real and recent case of a guy that did stuff without a manual and it cost him far more.

I'm all for helping someone if I can. However beggin like he did is quite another thing. I have to agree with freebird, if a $60 manual means ya cant put food on the table, then its time to sell the luxury that a bike is.
