Bottom line, red light means stop. If you have been driving for 20 years and do not know this, maybe you need the safe driving course (this time pay attention) I am THE LAST one to take up for leos but maybe that intersection has had a history of accidents. BUT you riding a bike should know the importance of making the complete stop. How many times have cages pulled out in front of you because they did not take that extra second to look twice? somebody needs to play mommy for you before you get one of US killed.
Oh give me a break. Nobody needs to play mommy. If there had been a car at the intersection I would have stopped for sure. Fact is I was the only one there at the time besides the cop hiding in the gas station parking lot. No cars comming at all.
No history of accidents at this intersection at all. I live so far out in the middle of no where that I usually pass more tractors than cars.
tell me buddy, how long does it take just to put a foot down, one second out of your life. Now your insurance is going to go up because of that one second you didn't take to put one foot down.
yeah well they were revenue generating today. I was hoping to get a warning. He complemented my bike and talked to me for several minutes about my bike and how good it looked for being so 22 years old, before giving me a ticket.
Oh well, Im 36 years old and only the second ticket i have ever gotten I really dont think I have to worry about my insurance going up. Besides I will just do defered adjudication or comedy defensive driving and it wont be on my record any way.
You asked what does it cost to put your foot down for a second. Well a few hours after I go the ticket I came to the same intersection. Came to a full stop at the right side of the lane. Had my blinker on and as I started to pull away some AZZHAT pulls up to the right of me in the median and turns right. Where I was turning. I caught him in my mirror at the last second and stopped before I turned into him. That foot down for a second almost cost me my life.
Oh well tomorrow is another day.
ALL towns and cities are in dire financial straights and have stepped up by-the-book enforcement of all MV laws. It's best in todays climate (and at all times for safety) to play the law the way they wrote it. The price of non-conformance is shooting straight up, not to mention any possible hits to your insurance...
