Default Got a damn ticket today. First one on the bike.

Violation say ran red light.
I turned right at a red light and did not come to a complete stop first. Learn something new everyday. I didnt realize you had to come to a complete stop to turn right on red.
Wonder what thats gonna cost me?

Bummerrrrrr. Where do you live? I know in CA they have completely cracked down/raised costs of tickets cause the state is in such a bad financial state. I read that a "california stop," which sounds like you did, is around $300 now.

That's what I was gonna say.

Every stop sign, every right turn on red. Touch your foot to the ground. If you do this, you've stopped.

Well tbh, I don't know anyone that comes to a complete stop EVERY time. I know I don't. I certainly know of spots around where I live or work that cops like to hang out. So I try and make sure to be careful. But sometimes you get careless, not paying attention, in a hurry, etc. Can't blame him. But not knowing it's illegal? That's a whole different story... Still sucks either way.

I've heard from a LE buddy that as long as they see you put one foot down even if you're rolling slowly, assuming anyones around, it counts as a stop, might be bs though, yeah everyone does it, bad habits, I know this same buddy told me if im waiting at a left and the light won't change if I can go through it safely just do it and if a cop pulls me over, explain what I was doing. lol

Lol I wouldn't want to risk the left turn trick. Rather just wait. But I guess time is money!!!

I know the law in my state reads something like "Ok to turn right on red AFTER stop." Again you do NOT have to go but it is Ok and only AFTER a stop. Do you not realize that while you have a red light, others have a green and they just might be travelling where you are turning? Next you we hear from you, you will blame a cage for running into you while they ran a GREEN light.

yes it has to be a complete stop, but i rarely touch down... only at lights where i see that i cant hold it. have done my stop in front of police many times. absolutely safest to touch down- thats proof of the stop. hey i am lazy...

Nah just complacency I guess.. When you are so used to everyone doing it you sometimes forget its against the law. What I didnt see is the cops hiding behind the gas station pulling people over. I passed 3 cops cars pulled over with others so I am not the only one who did it. All they were doing is revenue generating.
Bend the law enough sometimes they are gonna break. I broke it. Only the second ticket I have ever gotten.
How long have I been driving?? Over 20 years. Do you remember every single law on the books for your driving test? I seriously doubt it. Did each and everyone of you score a perfect score on your driving test? Highly doubtful. So get off my back...
