Default Cafe Racer Build

I am planning on breaking down the motorcycle and making it into a streamline Cafe Racer. I already have a build in mine, but I'd like some opinions and thoughts about a couple of things. Ideally, I'm looking at the build turning out to be something like this at the end of it all. I'm looking to make this happen on an 08 XL1200N.

One question I have is about the forks, as I have no idea where to start with them. Would anyone know first hand what pair would bring the height of the front down to that level? Second question I have is about the final drive. Right now I've got a belt-driven sprocket and am looking into a chain conversion. Are there any kits reputable kits for the job?

I'm just getting out of bed so my head's a bit all over the place, but this is all the questions that come to mind right now. I'll post anything else I have a question about when it comes to mind. Thanks in advance for the support. I'm glad to be here.

You don't need to bring the forks down any at all. If what you want is what is in that pic then you simply need clip-on handlebars & their speedo relocater (not yet available).

Any 39mm clip ons with 1" bars will work. And I don't see anything special about that speedo bracket. It's neat & clean but easily duplicated.

The rear shocks are taller & everything else they did to that bike is listed on their site. Looks like a pretty cool weekend job. I dig it but I like this one better...

Thanks for the clarification, mreed. I would have been lost trying to figure out the precise measurements for everything. I have to see what I can find/do about the rear shocks.

@BMXATV Yeah, I fell upon that thread searching for cafe racer images on google, which is how I stumbled upon this site. There are some really awesome looking bikes in there, real hot stuff.

The rear shocks are actually a prototype from progressive, that will msrp for $900 according to the guys at RSD. But they are 14" shocks so any 14" shock will give you that look.

Fourteen inches, huh? Hopefully I won't have to one foot it if I raise it two more inches or so. However, looking at where the strut is connected to on the Cafe Racer, it doesn't appear that simply switching struts would work for my situation. Did they tap in another hole or get a completely different bracket or is my mind simply playing tricks on me?

Yep. Your mind is playing tricks on you. That is what yours looks like without the strut covers.

That's a relief. The last thing I want to do is have anything machined. It's a shame a lot of the kit that RSD is designing still isn't finished, but I suppose the best part about doing a build is doing it one piece at a time so you can watch it unfold. Thanks again, everyone for all the continuing help.
