Default Rear blinker hanging off

Ever since I got the bike, the rear left blinker arm has been loose. The other day I was getting on the bike and I saw the signal housing actually dangling off of the arm, only held on because of the wires. I tried to fix this issue this past weekend but I couldn't get it. I took my backrest off (which took a stupid amount of time by itself just getting the 4 rusted screws out) and then I played around with it for about an hour trying to figure it out. I found out there is a double ended bolt with the nut underneath the chrome housing between the blinker arm and the fender. It looks like the threads going into my blinker are damaged, I'm guessing something happened to a previous owner and it wasn't taken care of properly. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me how to tighten the blinker back onto the bolt and then over the arm and back into place, anyone have experience with this? I've had to keep it on with masking tape and a shoelace

I had to replace the blinker on mine a while back, and I don't entirely remember the process.

But it's best to unbolt it from under the fender, as well as remove the trip on the side of the fender. Then, you should be able to tighten the bolt, then reattach the trip, then bolt it back from under the fender.

Sorry if this isn't completely accurate, but it's the best that I can remember (my blinker was a bitch to fix).

I ordered one this last week because mine broke when an ahole hit my bike. I haven't got it yet but I can tell you that screw cost me $6.50, just for the dang screw. So I also would like advise on getting this back on but looking at it didn't seem to be that bad.

I bought mine for less than $2 at my dealership. It was a 2009 883L, not sure if that made a difference.

Had the same thing happen two weeks ago. I tried retapping that signal light but It just wasn't gonna happen.

The light was $60 with tax at the local dealer and a new bolt was $2. Trust me it tried everything and it was just easier to get a new light.

I saw some on ebay for $90 for all 4 of them.
