I just got a 04 sporty 1200R. It didn't come with a manual, and I was just wondering how to adjust the shocks! My wife and I ride alot and it seems like its getting worse than it was about a month ago. It only has about 800 miles on it.
"To adjust the rear shock spring preload, turn spring adjusting cam to the desired position with a spanner wrench. When reducing preload, cams should be rotated in opposite direction. A SPANNER WRENCH (Part No. HD-94820-75A) is available from your Harley-Davidson dealer."
On your roadster there will be three preload positions. You put the spanner wrench in the notches and turn until it pops into the right position. On my bike I turn towards me to put it into a higher preload position. I've also been told that if you have some strength, then you can put a towel over it and turn it with your hands. I haven't tried that since the wrench is cheap.
