I have a 05 1200C. Usually, when I first start the bike in the morning, I pull the choke **** out slightly, it starts and idles very low. However, this morning I pulled the choke **** out with more force and it started and idled high. I waited a couple of minutes and pushed the choke back in. It would not slow down. I pulled it in and then out, no luck. The idle seems to be high. I decided to drive it to work (15 miles) thinking the idle speed would lower but it didn't.
Sounds like the cable might have broke or come off the tab on the carb. When you get home pull the breather and backing plate off so you can see better what is going on. Good idea to put some locktite on the backplate screws when you put it back together.
Blue locktite, if you want to get it apart some other time. Like he said, with the AC apart, you can look right at the enricher assy and see what effect the **** has. They break easily. Fortunately, easy to replace too.
+1 On it being a broken enrichner cable, but you're not going to see much by pulling the A/C because the cable attaches on the backside of the carb. Just buy a cable and plan on removing the carb to replace it.

+1 on this. It's not hard to replace, but you do have to remove the carb from the bike.

Well, I took off the a/c and sure enough can't see the cable going to the carb. (cHarley) was right. Anyway, I backed off the tensioner **** to less resistance. Messed with it a bit, this seemed to work. Thanks all.
