ok so going to pick my bike up tomorrow but would like to get some ideas from you all.
whoever had it before put a bigger tank on it you can see its not a factory tank. i looked at J&P cycles and it looks like the porkster tank at 4.2 gal which is good. but the only thing i dont like about it is the gap in between the back of the tank and the front of the seat...just looks off to me. im pretty sure the seat is not factory as well but any of you all got any ideas on something i could do in the gap there to kind of make it filled in maybe?
anyone got any ideas?
heres a pic of the bike from the side that the dealer sent me
Just my 2 cents and not sure how much 2up riding you plan on doing but if you remove the bags, sissy bar(can't tell from the pic if its quick detach or not) and go to a solo seat your going to get a lot more rear fender showing which may off-set the look of the gap in front.
Get her home and start taking stuff off and you may come to find the gap is not so important.
That tank is more suited for a chopper or bobber style bike, not a touring set-up type bike with windshield and saddle bags. That said, the best way to fill in that gap is to get the proper gas tank if you plan on keeping the rest of the bike as it is.

Agreed, right tank would take care of the "problem".
Hey Champ,,,Nice bike,,
Ride the thang an keep your eyes open for a
custom tank that looks like ya want.
The stock tank would look good but why not wait a while
an see what pops up..
I do agree with you,,that tank belongs on a Old school chopper.
planning on putting diffrent bars and a few other odds and ends and takin the sissy bar off and getting a solo seat sometime this winter...maybe when i put the 14" apes and solo seat on it i wont notice it as bad...we will see and just go from there. i like that its a bigger tank thinkin its a 4.2 gal and like that part of it but still dont know....havent even got it home yet, im pickin it up this after noon and bringin her home so ill get to mess with it a little more then
i dont have the best profile pic posted, but if you look closely ,i have that same tank on my '02-i actually like it. i think it works good w a solo seat (lots of fender)-i dont really notice the gap-but maybe its just me loving my bike?
